On March 18th 2019 Martyn and Emily gave birth to Ruby Sheppard who was born sleeping. As you can imagine this was a very emotional and difficult time for them both. Ruby will never be forgotten and will always be close to their hearts. The support from Sands help them both come to terms with their grief too.
Over time the pain started to heal and they fell pregnant again. On May 27th at 15.15 Martyn and Emily gave birth to their rainbow baby.
Little baby Freddie Sheppard was born at Bath Royal United Hospital weighing 7lb 2oz and was perfect in every way.
Although Freddie was born during lockdown, Martyn and Emily got on with life as best they could and allowed visitors to meet Freddie for the first time at a distance through windows. As time went on, visitors were allowed to meet him in the garden still at a distance, it’s only been the past month that anyone other than Martyn and Emily have been able to hold him, smell his baby smell and cuddle him with love and kisses.
Freddie is now three months old and weighs over 12 lb 9 oz, Freddie like to party throughout the night, so loves to make sure Martyn and Emily are awake upon his cries. He loves to keep them on their toes and make sure his demands are met as and when required.
He’s been on his first of many holidays to Weymouth, to stay in nanny and grandad’s caravan for a few days, which I’m sure as time goes on, he will love building sandcastles and feeling the sand and the sea on his little toes.
